Tuesday April 21 2020

A quiet start this morning is not going to last. A strong cold front will provide some strong lines of storms that may turn severe mid day and early this afternoon. The main risk will be damaging winds over 60 mph. But large hail is possible as well with very cold air aloft and a new Canadian air mass to follow.  Temps will drop into the 20s inland Wednesday morning, where a hard freeze is expected. Following that, we have two more storms brining rain Thursday through Sunday.

The prime energy will be passing across northeastern Maryland to southern New England. But all of our region should watch for the potential of storm impact.  The storm timeline is highlighted in the slider below.

  • 12 Noon and 1 PM the main storm line crosses the big cities. A second line is possible.
  • 2 PM to 5 PM – The focus crosses Delmarva and Southern Maryland.
