Thursday January 9 2020
We are feeling real winter this morning. The leftover snow has helped refrigerate the atmosphere. This morning most areas with snowpack over 2 inches deep are in the teens. The 20s are widespread. As might be expected, I guess I should state: There may be icy spots from yesterday’s thaw and refreeze.
The weather pattern is quiet for now, but a new strong storm will be forming over the weekend. We will be on the warm side of this one as it will pump in temps through the 60s both Saturday and Sunday. Situations like this often bring in warmer air than the computer models show. That does mean a warm Ravens night game and we could challenge a record high temperature on Sunday.

Saturday Temperatures
Ravens Night Game
This GFS Model may be tool cool. I expect mild 60s to linger thanks to strong winds from the south at 15 to 25 mph. That will be a factor for the game, gusting and swirling winds.
Storm Animation
The bulk of the rain should be Sunday morning. But showers are possible on Saturday. With the warm air, it will be windy.
Temperature Outlook
As we warm up this weekend, it’s worth looking at record temperatures: The best chance to challenge will be Sunday. It was only three years ago that mark was set at 70ºF. The records on Saturday will be harder to hit. The Monday record should remain out of reach as we cool down if only to the 50s by then.
