You may have herd the wind howl overnight and you should feel it today. A Wind Advisory has been expanded into central Maryland and Southern PA today. Gusts will reach up t0 50 mph, which could knock down branches and move lawn furniture. Restrictions on area bridges and trucks swaying lanes will slow traffic.  A warning for higher winds in Sussex, DE through coastal New Jersey.

Wind Advisory Thursday October 17

Record October Low Pressure

This storm central pressure did drop more than 24 mb in the past 24 hours, qualifying it as a bomb cyclone. That is the reason for the strong winds pulling in to the center from all directions. This is lowest pressure for many locations in New England for the month of October.

At 5 AM, Boston measured an air pressure of 975.3 mb, beating the record of 982.4 set with Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

90 mph Wind Gust in Provincetown!

This did result in many wind damage reports. But since this storm is inland, the friction has limited the overfall wind speeds as opposed to the coastal superstorm earlier this decade. However, by the coast there have been hurricane force wind gusts. On Cape Code Provincetown hit 90 mph
