Sunay February 24 2019
Our region is under a High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory through Monday. The strongest winds are expected tonight where many places could have gusts between 45 and 60 mph. Some already have.
At 6 PM the fastest winds speeds around the area were cranking on the western areas and just reaching metro Washington. These were just about to reach the Chesapeake Bay ares. These include:
- Dulles = 49 mph
- Frederick = 48 mph
- Hagerstown = 43 mph
- Winchester = 41 mph
- Westminster = 31 mph
- BWI = 18 mph
- Annapolis = 5 mph
If you do not have the strong winds yet, you will very shortly.
I wanted to put together a few ways for you to track the weather with a couple of widgets. First a remind of the locations affected:
High Wind Warning/Wind Advisory
- The winds will pick up this afternoon and if you read my report yesterday you saw the strongest winds would reach north central Maryland. This now includes Cecil, northerner Harford/Baltimore, and Carroll Counties. Along with Frederick and westward in Maryland plus southern Pennsylvania: Wind speeds may gust to 60 mph
- The Wind Advisory for the rest of central and Southern Maryland: Wind Gusts to 50 mph
- There is a very real concern of trees coming down and power being kicked out.
