November 17 2018
The record snow on Thursday November 15 was such a big deal, people are still talking about it. I keep seeing meteorologists post explanations for their regions all along the east coast and government officials discus why they were not prepared. While there was more stickage on the roads in metro areas, my overall snowfall forecast held up and now we have an official grade!
Thanks to help from Jared Scott, the interactive map below overlays the spotter reports on my forecast. The first version only had the NWS Spotter reports from Baltimore Washington region. Now he added in Cecil County MD and Pennsylvania reports. Please use this as reference and check out the stats he generated:
Interactive Snow Map From November 15 2018 Storm
*Green dots mean my forecast hit and red missed
*Black squares are outside my forecast zone.
95 misses and 328 hits from my forecast
78% Grade (only based on reports): That would be a C+. In some areas this was an A+ and others a low C. Overall the call for snowfall was on target and I was very vocal about the stickage concern. Plus since the night prior I mentioned this would be an overachiever.
