Friday November 2 2018

Temperatures this morning are very mild. Baltimore’s BWI is still holding around 70ºF at 6 AM.  The force brings in the warm air is a larger storm that is increasing our winds, so there are restrictions on some area bridges.  Early this morning gusts have already been over 20 mph and that will increase to 35+ mph during the day.  The rain will be scattered this morning, but a dramatic build up on the radar this afternoon and tonight.

Temperatures will drop into the 50s this weekend. Winds should ease a little and it will be dry for the Bay Bridge 10K walk Sunday.

Severe Thunderstorms?

We will get some heavy downpours with thunder tonight. There is a marginal risk for storms to turn severe east of the mountains. See the rain timeline split in two sliders for today and tomorrow below. The extended outlook brings the chance for snow closer to central Maryland next weekend.

Morning Snapshot

High Temperatures

Note the split in the cold and warm air. That is the cold front that will try to move in with a thin line of showers but will stall and wait for the impulse of rain later today. Note there will be a dramatic drop this weekend with highs Saturday and Sunday in the mid 50s.

Storm Animation

We have a busy pattern. The next storm will be with another warm up on Tuesday into Wednesday. Then we set up another weekend storm that will bring the back end snow through the mountains and close to the western Maryland suburbs on Sunday November 11.  Something to look forward to #FITF.
