Wednesday June 20 2018

We still have some heat and humidity in place to spark showers and storms this afternoon. The weather will remain active through the weekend as we remain on the edge of an old frontal boundary. Today the focus of the strongest storms that may turn severe will be in the mountains and our southern areas in Virginia and extreme southern Maryland. We should get widespread showers and a few rounds of storms, any of which can produce dangerous lightning.

If you are at the beaches, today should be good for you as the bulk of showers will stay to your west during the day.

Weather Outlook Through This Weekend

More showers and storms expected Friday and through the weekend. There will be tropical moisture from a system entering the western Gulf Coast today that will get pulled into the next weather feature. That may lead to heavy rain and stronger storms.
