After reached a record high of 90ºF on Wednesday, we are expecting temperatures to crank up another notch or two today and tomorrow. Both will challenge records in Baltimore and region wide. The reason is the strong storm in the nations heartland, which is responsible for the severe storm outlook in the central plains. The Enhanced Risk for storms including large hail and tornadoes will be in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. This includes metro Kansas City. Another cluster of storms will ride into central New York.
This pattern will increase the humidity in the air for us, so while only a degree or two warmer than yesterday, it will feel less comfortable. The true muggy weather will be with us on Friday.
Rain chances will increase for us Friday and become more widespread on Saturday.
Extreme Weather
That 1913 year holds the record for tomorrow as well with 91ºF.
May 1930 had 4 record high dates (May 5th = 92ºF; May 7th = 96ºF; May 8th = 93ºF)
Often when we get a heat wave, there is a cluster of two or three days in a row with record high temperatures. We have a chance to tie or break the record today AND Friday.
