July 1 2017

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of our area until 9 PM this evening. This includes southern Pennsylvania, central Maryland, VA Washington suburbs, and the Northern Eastern Shore. The potential is for storms to produce any element or a combination of the following: Winds of 60 mph, large hail over 1 inch diameter, flash flooding, frequent lightning, and an isolated tornado.

Note: This is a ‘Watch’ meaning it may happen. If you see a Warning issued, that means a particular storm is happening and being tracked through an area.

The timing of the cold front wil not let the entire duration. The storms may pass with  hit of 30 to t0 minutes, and then move on…  So the Watch will likely be canceled after this main line moves through your area from west to east. NOT last until 9 PM I also want to point out that the line of storms may broken up and hit slam with equal intensity for everyone. The slider below is the best gauge for the timing as seen by the High Resolution Rapid Refresh model. Note that the storms will hit metro areas, but fade across the Bay, so that much of the line may fall apart before reaching the beaches.
