Tuesday June 20
The storms on Monday brought nearly 1 inch of rain to Baltimore, a confirmed tornado to Montgomery County, and a possible tornado in Delaware. Now we get a drop in humidity while temps remain warm. We can call this a dry heat as temps reach the upper 80s but dew points drop into the 50s. Summer official begins with the solstice at 12:24 AM Wednesday and we should remain hot and dry this week… But Ocean City to OBX may have a better chance of showers tomorrow.
Tropics
Tropical Storm Bret was named in the eastern Caribbean yesterday, but this will not impact us. This morning we are watching Potential Tropical Storm Three in the Gulf of Mexico as it is much closer. It expected to be named Cindy later today or tomorrow. There is a lot of moisture but it will not have a lot of time to generate itself before making landfall. The forecast track brings it into Louisiana and then curves to the north and northeast into The Mid Atlantic. That could give us some heavy rain over the weekend.
Will We Get Soaked?
Tropical Storms are fickle and our mid range modes don’t handle them well.
Keep in mind that this is not an officially named storm yet and we are trying to plan it out for the next six days. So the plot for the track does trend it our way, but the amount of moisture is not well defined. So I do not want to pin down how much rain we could get. But the current thinking is an impact this weekend.
