The line of severe storms continues to move east with the cold front. Now that we have a distinct line, the short range modeling can do a better job tracking it.  So I have a new radar simulation below. As of 3 PM, there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning from Leesburg VA to Mount Airy and  Columbia. This includes Montgomery and western Howard County in Maryland. A distinct drop in temperatures has been noticed ranging from near 90ºF around Baltimore to the upper 60s and 70ºF  in Carroll County and York County PA (see the temperature map below).

Cells are moving to the Northeast, but the whole line is drifting with the cold front to the East. The north side of Baltimore and the west side of Washington will see it first… but the cities will get the bulk of the action between 4 PM and 6 PM.

The main threat so far has been gusty winds and frequent lightning. The conditions are not ideal for the peak action in central Maryland, which may be a good thing. I alway look for winds from the southeast to enhance the sweeter risk. But the

Severe Thunderstorm Watch AND Flash Flood Watch expire at 8 PM. But expect some counties to be dropped as the line passes east.
