May 4 2017- The clouds thickening up today are a precursor to our next storm.  The notion of heavy rain and storms still leads the charge, and the morning time still appears to be the main event. This may not be welcome when you start your Friday, but it may play out to a better finish for many. I want to point out that rainfall totals still show a large area over 1 inch… While this product recently has overblown perception, we will still get a good soaking and potential flooding along with rare morning rumbles of thunder.

As far as the weekend is concerned, it wil be windy and chilly. The threat of showers on Saturday is just that… not a washout. But timing out to your plans could be tricky.

Timeline: Here’s the wide view and then a closer inspection

This is a rainfall summary of the 3 hour period up to the time stamp. The complete storm total still will bring over 1 inch to many locations… especially in the mountains and perhaps along the Bay.

Friday Evening

Watch for another cluster of storms along the Bay or Delmarva.  Also lingering showers in the mountains

Saturday Rain?

NOT ALL DAY!!!! This will be the windy, chilly, unstable side of the storm… but not a lot of moisture. Just a wave or two of spotty showers or a T’Storm. I would not cancel plans based on this, but prepare for a chance of a hit of rain for 10 to 30 minutes… especially on the north side mid afternoon.

Rainfall Totals?

As I wrote above, rainfall totals still show a large area over 1 inch… While this product recently has overblown perception, we will still get a good soaking and potential flooding along with rare morning rumbles of thunder.

Get the award winning Kid Weather App I made with my oldest son and support our love for science, weather, and technology. Our 3 year anniversary of the release and our contribution to STEM education is this November. It has been downloaded in 60 countries, and works in both temperature scales. With your support we can expand on the fun introduction to science and real weather.
