Thursday April 20 – The clouds and band of rain this morning may make you question the temperature forecast, but we should get back to the upper 70s or lower 80s today. That will depend on the amount of sunshine and next round of shower. Thunderstorms should arrive mid afternoon but the risk of severe weather appears to stay out of our region. I understand your phone apps might show rain every day, but those are for scattered showers spread over the next few days. The main threat will be on Sunday, especially that morning. But we still need the rain and there is potential for 1 to 3 inches by early next week. Here are the quick view maps…
Severe Storm Outlook
Best chance today will be wil west, including Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, and Cleveland.

I have not been impressed with the performance of the HRRR Model, so here is the 3Km NAM outlook

Friday Rain
Split chance in the morning and T’Storms in the afternoon
Weekend Ending With Rain
The storm is still expected on Sunday. I am showing the GFS Model here to point out why some of your apps might be showing less rain or dry weather. This is the outlier. As of this time the main support is to keep this system farther north. Seems like a similar error error we had this past winter with events verifying farther north (but no snow to worry about now).

Storm Smart: My STEM Assembly Program
Click here to see the details and how this educational program is also a fundraiser for schools. We can start scheduling for May now.
Get the award winning Kid Weather App I made with my oldest son and support our love for science, weather, and technology. Our 3 year anniversary of the release and our contribution to STEM education is this November. It has been downloaded in 60 countries, and works in both temperature scales. With your support we can expand on the fun introduction to science and real weather.
