9:40 PM Saturday March 18 – The second part of this latest storm will be developing to our south and move well off of the coast. It is the upper level energy that will help bing in a moderate band of snow as the cold air returns. The warm up we had today should have been enough to warm the pavement, and considering that this is a weekend, it might not be a big deal. But there is plenty of snowpack to our north to help refrigerate the air. Also, in addition to church plans, there are other activities early Sunday morning that could be affected.

There are no advisories. This is just for a small window around sunrise Sunday for possible travel impact.

McDonough School is one of my clients and they were expecting people to arrive at 7 AM for their robotics tournament. I was concerned about the moderate snow at the time and temperatures around the freezing mark through Owings Mills that might allow for some slushy road stickage.  so I suggested they push everything back 2 hours to be safe. Here is the radar simulation that shows the snow pushing south after midnight. Compare to the forecast temperatures below. If we have roads problems, they will only be for a few hours around before and after sunrise. The snow should stop and thawing begin by 9 AM and beyond.

At the most, a dusting to 1 inch of snow may lay and stay in the colder locations west and north of the cities.

Our 3 year anniversary of the release and our contribution to STEM education is this November. It has been downloaded in 60 countries, and works in both temperature scales. With your support we can expand on the fun introduction to science and real weather.
