Thursday January 26 – How does the idea of colder air and snow showers sound? Not a big storm, just flakes flying for a few days… That is what we have in store as winter is making a return. A cold front is passing through this morning, which appears to be bringing the best chance of rain for southern Maryland and the Delmarva. Cold winds will whip up and the 60ºF temps we just had will be a memory. This winter pattern settles in for at least the next two weeks and with it will be plenty of snow for the mountains and some occasional snow showers reaching parts of our area. Faith in the Flakes… The supporting maps are below:

The long range outlook does show a larger system trying to send moisture our way. I continue to emphasize that I DO NOT believe a long range map will be fully accurate more than 1 week away. But I like the idea of ‘something’ acting on the cold air…
