Warm And Wet Storm Track But Winter Will Return

Monday January 16 – It’s Martin Luther King Jr Day and many are going to enjoy quiet weather and temps in the mid 40s for parades. Others wanting real winter weather to ski and snowboard may have to hang on a little longer. Rain is on the way. A few systems over the next week. The thaw from the weekend system will continue as temperatures will remain above normal over the next one to two weeks thanks to jet stream. This will take storm tracks to our west and north, keeping us on the warm side. This is also the time when winter lovers need to have Faith in the Flakes, because winter will return. In fact there is a good chance that all of this mild weather will be balanced out by an equally cold and long pattern that will make next month erase the mild conditions we are getting now. Buckle up!

Here is a look at the next few rain systems with a broad view of the eastern US. Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday are the ‘wet’ days on the way with the current view. Below, an animation showing the jet stream temperature anomalies, which will eventually break down and give us our colder weather again. It does look like 10 to 14 days until we get into the cold again, but it will return. FITF
