Severe Storm Risk Today And Later This Week

Screen Shot2016-06-21 06_33_47Tuesday June 21 – Today is the first full day of summer and we have a slight risk of storms turning severe. A cold front will be passing through and that part of the forecast has changed. The speed will be slower and it will be completely pass through, as is often the case in June. The result has brought Baltimore into the slight risk for severe weather zone, but it also will keep the chance of storms will us for a few days. The next wave will arrive on Thursday. Below are the maps and simulated radar slider.

Today’s high temperatures will be in the upper 80s, and the storms will be most likely in the early to mid afternoon. There may be a few rounds of storms, not just one single line, so pay attention for watches and warnings.

Severe Storms are not a promise, but strong storms will possibly reach these levels if winds exceed 60 mph, hail is larger than 1 inch in diameter, and even the isolate rotating storm that might drop a tornado. June is the seas when we tend to have our most robust hail storms.
