Flag Day Sunrise Video And Outlook For Rain

Flag Day Sunrise Video And Outlook For Rain

June 14 2016- It is Flag Day as it will be pleasant again. The wind will not be as strong, but enough to flap the flags and keep us cool as we honor our red, white, and blue. Before getting to the rain on the way and outlook for the weekend, I want to show you a beautiful sunrise video that Tim Shahan captured over Baltimore’s Inner Harbor yesterday. Quite fitting as the home of our Star Spangled Banner.  This displayed the colors of our flag in the sky.  If you get a beautiful photo of our flag today, please share it. I will compile a collection.  Also, I have a very big announcement this evening. Please make sure to check back on my Facebook page or here on my website by 9 PM.

Rain On The Way?

The next weather system will approach from the west as a Low Pressure center drops south from the Great Lakes. Some showers will develop Wednesday afternoon and evening. But Thursday will be the day with scattered rain and storms at any time. This should pass south during Friday and set up a questionable weekend. Note: Baltimore is now ‘below normal’ for rain not only this month, but for the year. Seems hard to imagine after this wet spring, but here are the numbers:

  • June 1.57″ = -1.18″ for the month
  • 2016 18.60″ = -0.36″ for the year

Severe Storms?

This looks like most energy will stay to our west, but marginal conditions for severe storms will be present on Thursday. See general weekend view below.

Quick Announcement About My 3rd Trek Across Maryland

Trek3_Logo_Final Small

On August 7th I will be embarking on my 3rd trek across Maryland for Cool Kids Campaign. This is a 325 mile hike and bike from the summit of Wisp to the Inlet of Ocean City over 7 days. When I was 14 years old I almost lost my leg, but recovered and went back to playing sports. I do this to inspire kids battling cancer today and share their stories.  I am looking for fun and ambitious people to join my team. You can do a single day, the whole week, or provide your own team. There is also a big opportunity for box partners to pledge and get large media exposure in return. Please see this link and contact Victoria at Cool Kids Campaign to signup. The trek route and more about my story is on my trek page.

Weekend?

High Pressure will settle to our north and slide off of the coast this weekend. The problem with this will be the easterly wind off of the Atlantic. This should make for a chilly few days at the beaches and possibly fill the shoreline with clouds and sea spray. Farther inland will be more questionable as the winds will be cool and depending on the cloud cover could hold temperatures lower than models are suggesting now.
