Thursday June 2 – After a nearly perfect early sumer like weather day, a slow moving system will crawl over our region this weekend. Today we will watch the storms fire in the mountains, but a deeper inspection shows that a southeasterly wind across the Bay today could enhance those storms this evening. That will hold the afternoon temps down near the water, but also allow the line of rain survive and arrive tonight. The patter we will notice over the next few days will be primarily afternoon and evening thunderstorms, but Sunday will show rain at any time during the day. The rain timeline shows that below.
The other thing I noticed has been the upper level pattern that will bring yet another month with a cooler start. Next week will bring temps hack in the 70s. Going back to the snow we had on the first Friday in March, this will make the 4th month in a row with a distinct cool start. Here are the maps to help you with your plans.

A southeast wind often enhances showers moving out of the mountains towards central Maryland. That will be worth watching towards evening.
Afternoon High Temperatures
It will be warming away from the Chesapeake Bay thanks to the winds off of the water. Notice 80°F in Baltimore compared to 90°F in Hagerstown
Stormy Pattern Through Sunday –> slider
Do not focus on the specific location of the rain, but the the overall pattern showing the build up especially in the afternoons and evenings, then any time on Sunday. Notice the remains of Bonnie will finally get kicked out of North Carolina off of the coast.

Outlook 500 mb Height Anomalies
The upper level pattern next week shows cooler than average air settling in over the eastern US. The core of the chilly air will arrive Wednesday, but most if not all of next week will have temperatures below average.
