Still Soggy Here On Sunday But Still Warming Next Week

May 22 2016 – This morning starts with some rain and temps in the 50s. It has become cliche, and while it seems like we can’t shake this pattern, we will warm up a lot this week. Just not today.  The atom has moved off of the coast, but a second one is behind it and we will remain unsettled. The radar simulation below is the last thing I wanted to see as many people have been asking about their plans, including some weddings today. The risk of rain stays with us today, and some showers tomorrow, but we will dry out during the week and stay warm for Memorial Day weekend.

If it helps, I am dragging my kids out of bed to Oregon Ridge for the Cool Kids Campaign Courageous 5K and Family Event. This does look worse that the expectation over the past two days.  I tried to be as optimistic as possible and it just didn’t work this time. t am sure I will hear it from then and the other runners. But, the show must go on. Here is the timeline

The steadier and heavier rain appears to be concentrated in northern and central Maryland just west of Baltimore to Frederick. There will be showers and bands of steady rain extending throughout the state.
