Saturday April 2 – This afternoon was a break between one system and the arctic front that will really make itself noticed. This is the one that will be responsible for our High Wind Warning and Freezing Temperatures. Winds will be over 30 mph and could gust up to 60 mph. Most of the action will be after dark tonight, when the front passes and the cold air races in. Below is the timeline slider showing the system. It will bring a band of rain, but after midnight some of the upper level energy will provide a chance for snow showers. If you want to stay up late to see some flakes, the best time will be between midnight and 4 AM. If you are waking up early for the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler in Washington, I am sorry. Temps will be near freezing, but wind chills will be close to 20°F, teens farther inland.

The upper level energy is what will support the chance for a few snow showers or flurries that don’t show up on the HRRR Model. The core of the clipper will be passing north of Maryland near Harrisburg and Philadelphia, but there will be spleeny of support to the south as seen on this vorticity map.
