February 7 – This Super Bowl Sunday I have a super hard forecast. I know you don’t want to read much and honestly I don’t want to write much before the game begins. There are plenty of maps below for you to scroll through, including my first call for snowfall map, National Weather Service snow maps, and model forecasts. But I should show you how I think this system will develop as well. It is complicated as a major storm skirts just offshore, and a clipper from the west fades. A deformation zone will set up, not a well defined Low Pressure. So far, I am staying with everything I have been saying for the past few days. The hardest part about this forecast will be the set up for the moderate snow on Tuesday. There may be a narrow band, and that is where the heaviest snow will fall.
Kew Notes:
- It will snow this week!
- Starts: Rain changes to snow late Monday
- Main Event: Tuesday
- Deformation Zone (DZ): A pump in the atmosphere ‘between’ the surface Low and upper level Low.
- Models differ where that will set up. So snow potential on models range from barely 1″ to well over 6″ around metro Baltimore.
- A narrow band of moderate snow on Tuesday will be the focus for highest amount in the DZ
- Snow Showers Linger: Wednesday and Thursday
- Cold Will Hold: Temps stay below average through next week

Latest GFS Model Storm Timeline (slider–>)
This is the model that has performed the best in the past month. It is also the most aggressive with snow between Baltimore Maryland and York Pennsylvania.

Before Looking At Snow Potential Maps… Are you ready to measure?
Snow Stick!
My friend Thatcher made these prototype snow sticks. He is offering official Faith in the Flakes Snow Sticks in three sizes and many colors:
- 2 Ft- Snow Stick $8.25/each
- 30 Inches- Blizzard Stick $9.75/each
- 36 Inches – Drift Stick $11.25/each
We have the classic flake, Maryland,
but also Orange/Black and Purple/Black to support your favorite team.
The easiest way to do this is check out the Facebook Page for Signs By Tomorrow – Timonium and look for the contact info there.
I’d love to know what you think.
As for that snow..
THIS IS NOT MY CALL! My Map is farther below…
GFS: Most aggressive with snow between Baltimore Maryland and York Pennsylvania.
NAM Model
This shifts focus of Deformation Zone north into Poconos and northern New Jersey
Canadian Model
This shifts the focus of the Deformation Zone with a stronger coastal storm in metro New York City
My First Call For Snowfall
This is my confident low end numbers for the event. I’ve think the Deformation Zone will be wider than GFS shows, and the heaviest will be in the mountains. But there is upside potential, which is why I wrote ‘Or More’.
