Freezing Rain Advisory Tuesday Morning

Warmer air is trying to move in and with it is a band of light rain. For the most part, this will travel along the hills and mountains to the north and west of Baltimore and the Freezing Rain Advisory follows that path. I want to suggest that some of this could extend into parts of Maryland near the PA line. This advisory includes Hagerstown, Gettysburg, York, and Lancaster until 9 AM. Warmer air is already mixing in, but most of our region should be above freezing a few hours after sunrise. Note that some drizzle or light rain can reach parts of Frederick, Carroll, northern Baltimore, and Harford County.  This is where some light rain might catch up to the cold air before it has a chance to warm up. By the time it reaches Cecil County it should warm above freezing.

Temps at 6 AM

There are pockets of mild air, but also places well below freezing. The ground is frozen as well. So please don’t take thee temperatures as the only. Notice the spread of 36°F in Westminster to 19°F in York. Plenty of spots in between that might be well below freezing. Also, the air could warm to 32°F but the ground could remain frozen,

This is light precipitin, but just enough to develop a glaze. This simulation is not perfect. Watching the radar as it passes through is most prudent.
