Snow Update Tonight And Winter Storm Watch Expanded

I don’t want to lose sight of the clipper on the way that could be a nuisance for southern Maryland and Delmarva. This is a quick post to show the timeline as upper level energy will flare up the snow overnight between Annapolis and Ocean City. This could clip the northern Chesapeake Bay areas along I-95 to Cecil County.  But the Winter Weather Advisory south of Baltimore includes southern Maryland.

The radar this afternoon looked impressive, but the bulk of the moisture is not crossing the mountains. You may see flurries, but not much more this evening. The energy will pass south tonight and that is where any flare up tonight get’s active. Below is the simulated radar.

But as you also see, I wanted to show the updated Advisory map. The National Weather Service has expanded the Winter Storm Watch for Delmarva, Metro Philadelphia, and southern Pennsylvania. York and Lancaster will be in it through Sunday.

Note the evening band of snow looks light, but as the upper level energy catches up and crosses the Chesapeake Bay… it will flare up. Two things about this:

1. Snow will increase briefly around the Bay, including Annapolis This could drop a quick dusting to 1 inch.
2. Remember this, as the energy with the blizzard this weekend is bound to show of some atmospheric memory.
