snowshoe2January 5 2016 – Are you hungry for snow? So hungry that you would do anything to see it? Well, a friend of mine went out west with her boyfriend this past weekend in hopes of reaching a winter wonderland. Due to the timing of the arctic air arrival, the burst of snow to reach western Maryland and West Virginia was at their peak on Monday January 4. In short, they decided to stay an extra day to travel between Snowshoe Mountain and Wisp capturing photos and video to share. But to do so, they had to skip work. Since they played hooky, they can not receive full credit for what we get to see below, but we get the spoils of their foil. It was some serious dedication, and I thank both of them for their Faith in the Flakes.  See my friend’s message to me below.

Elevation Played A Big Role

Snowshoe Village is at the top of the mountain at 4,848 Ft. That made a bog difference with the amount of snow. They got 4.5″ while at the bottom, there was barely  a trace. These photos in the slider are in order from top to bottom to give the impression of the variety of snow:

Garrett County Snow:

Note that Wisp reported 3″ of snow at this time.

Here is the message I got Monday evening:

“Justin…..

so we’re back home from our trip out to Snowshoe Mountain West Virginia and the Wisp Resort in Garrett County Maryland. Accumulation at the summit of snowshoe was about 4.5″ as of 3:00 pm and Wisp’s summit was 3″ when we arrived around 6:30 pm. I took a few pictures of the driving conditions for you during the most intense burst of snow showers/squalls and as well took a short video and as you did in Manchester earlier today (I slowed it down) and it turned out pretty awesome. I hope you enjoy and share the pics and video on your weather FB page for all to see (The video was taken in West Virginia)

Now I ask a HUGE favor of you Justin. When and IF you choose to post these on your page please do NOT reference me as I was a bad girl today and (called out of work) this morning so I could remain out in the mountains and enjoy the snow! That was some serious dedication to the snow! Haha! The only reason I ask you to refrain from acknowledging me is several of my co-workers follow your page on a regular basis. So for this, I can be ” a friend” from Harford County.
