This morning we have some fog, and the lingering moisture will relate to variable clouds and haze to dim the sun. Yet another system can’t get it’s act together, so only a few showers along the coast and back in the mountains, with a whole lot of nothing in the middle for most of our region. That will change. The El Nino charged jet stream will buckle this weekend and surge much warmer air our way. This will help to mix some of the stagnant pollution out, and we could reach a record. Sunday and Monday will be when you really notice the warm air. So compared to the snowy Ravens game many were reminded of two years ago, this Sunday might have a record high while you wear short sleeves and perhaps shorts. But there is a sign of colder air in time for Christmas.

Here is a brief look at the jet stream temperature anomalies. Basically a break down of above and below average temps aloft, which translates to warm or cool down here at the ground. Notice the spread and surge of warm air this weekend, but the pattern will break down. A series of cool pockets in the western US will eventually take hold and then show signs of spreading our way in the week before Christmas.

The model forecast shows 64°F as the high this weekend for BWI, but warm ups tend to surge higher than first expected, and lasts a day longer. Especially if we get sunshine to boot. So there is a very likely possibility that we end up close to 70°F on Sunday and Monday.

Holiday Spirit Giveback: Faith in the Flakes Christmas Shirts
My boys and I are rocking our shirts from last year and believe we will see snow this month. It might be hard to imagine with this stretch of rain. We want to spread the joy in a new way. Among the new styles, we have holiday or Christmas colors, and waiting for ours to be printed. We thought it would be great if families would wear these together to open gifts under their trees. In appreciation for your support, we will be using 20% of the proceeds of these holiday shirts to purchase winter coats for kids and donating them before Christmas.
