This morning a storm is well off the east coast. This storm was first thought to be a coastal with rain along the Mid Atlantic, bringing a mix into the mountains. But when I showed it I also mentioned the trend of systems verifying east of the first forecast. We can thank El Nino’s strong upper level winds for the push. The same idea can be carried over with warm trends. We often end up warmer than first expected. So with that in mind, the building ridge in the jet stream this weekend is already showing a hint of spring. It could get event warmer.
Snow Lovers: A Warm December does not mean a snowless winter. Often the pattern can reverse course and recover quickly, so do not be misled into thinking winter will not happen this year.
Normal?
Baltimore Average today: High on Dec 8: 47°F
Looking ahead to the weekend
Sunday Dec 13: Average 46°F
Record Dec 13: 69°F in 1889
Now look at this:
The jet stream will buckle again, with a ridge building for the eastern US this weekend. Today-Tuesday will be the coolest day of the week. By Sunday…
Temperature Outlook:
The tendency for warm ups to end up warmer is what we will watch this week. Yes, it is possible that some thermometers could reach 70°F this weekend. But mid to upper 60s is a fair bet.
Within reach:BWI would need to hit 69°F tie the record 126 year old record from 1889.
Faith In The Flakes: It Will Snow… Eventually

Holiday Spirit Giveback: Faith in the Flakes Christmas Shirts
My boys and I are rocking our shirts from last year and believe we will see snow this month. It might be hard to imagine with this stretch of rain. We want to spread the joy in a new way. Among the new styles, we have holiday or Christmas colors, and waiting for ours to be printed. We thought it would be great if families would wear these together to open gifts under their trees. In appreciation for your support, we will be using 20% of the proceeds of these holiday shirts to purchase winter coats for kids and donating them before Christmas. The collections from this design will be added up through Dec 21 (official start of winter).
We know Hanukah is this weekend, and there are other holidays you may celebrate. This is the most universal.
Will you join our family with your family?
