We’ve turned a corner I believe since the rain ended from the first half of this week. Also with numerous tree lighting ceremonies Thursday night, and now heading into the first weekend of December the thoughts of the holidays are in full swing. Chanukah begins Sunday evening and Christmas is 21 days away, but where is winter?  I wrote about the influence of El Nino and the outlook for this month. We get a true sample this weekend and next week to firm up my notes from my winter outlook. Here is a quick look.

Weekend: Dry!

This upper level wind map shows High Pressure in control, blocking any storms from getting close. Below is the surface weather map, also showing not only the large ridge, but the heat pump that will be developing and shifting our way.

Coastal Storm Next Week?

Yes and no! I wrote about this a few days ago with the purpose of highlighting the model error I had been showing for a few months. The El Nino pattern in the Pacific has increased the upper level winds, and storms that first show up, are likely to trend farther east when they actually happen. Here you can see that storm will be strong, but jump off of the coast and miss us.

Warming back up this weekend… then even WARMER for the middle of the month. A good chance we might actually hit the 60s.

Holiday Spirit Giveback: Faith in the Flakes Christmas Shirts

ChristmasFlakeMy boys and I are rocking our shirts from last year and believe we will see snow this month. It might be hard to imagine with this stretch of rain. We want to spread the joy in a new way. Among the new styles, we have holiday or Christmas colors, and waiting for ours to be printed. We thought it would be great if families would wear these together to open gifts under their trees. In appreciation for your support, we will be using 20% of the proceeds of these holiday shirts to purchase winter coats for kids and donating them before Christmas. The collections from this design will be added up through Dec 21 (official start of winter).

We know Hanukah is this weekend, and there are other holidays you may celebrate. This is the most universal.

Will you join our family with your family?
