If you missed my updated over the weekend, then this may come as a pleasant surprise in Maryland. The large storm that brought more flooding to Texas and the Gulf Coast is going to miss us. It is like High Pressure has put up a brick wall at Maryland’s southern border to keep us dry. This confirms the GFS Model was closest to winning this forecast battle of the models and the trend continues. I am going to chalk this up as another storm verifying farther east and south than expected. That trend I’ve seen for months and could be the influence of El Nino on upper level winds that models are missing. It will be an important factor with winter events, so duly noted.
On the bright side, temperatures will soar even warmer this week as Indian Summer Part 2 will bring multiple days in the 70s to Baltimore. This may help counter the shift of daylight and sunset just after 5 PM, but could also be a downer for those ready for fall and winter. Do not despair. This fits with the Winter Weather Folklore I posted last night: A warm November is the sign of a bad winter. We will get a reality check of much colder air next week. see more below.
