ThursdaySnapshot

It looks like after school sports might be postponed Thursday, but this time for rain.  Coming off of two days of early dismissals for heat in Baltimore, the pattern is about to break. A few storms developed Wednesday, but they were widely scattered. The chance of rain is much greater with the cold front on the move. There may be some rumbles of thunder, but a few hours of steady rain look likely mid afternoon through evening for most of our region.

There will be a few showers in the morning, but the build up along the front will be noticeable after 3PM.  Thunderstorms between York and Baltimore could be strong as they develop, but nothing severe is expected. Most of the energy will be confined to central Virginia and southern Maryland with the largest cluster of storms passing south of Washington into the evening. The line might slow down at the Chesapeake, so the eastern shore might escape much of the day with a few stray showers, then the rain and front pass overnight.  See the slider here for the hourly breakdown. The outlook through the weekend and big cool down can be found here
