Screen Shot2015-09-09 14_37_41It’s been a long time coming. September has been hot and dry, but that is about to change. Seven out of the first nine days this month have hit the 90s, and all have registered no rain in Baltimore (minus some stray showers nearby).  In fact we have not had measurable rain since August 24th, when 0.52″ fell on BWI. That’s 16 days rain free. This late season heat wave will break as the weather pattern turns a little more autumn-like.  The fall feel to the air will be courtesy of an upper level trough and two separate low pressure centers that develop almost overhead.  It may not set any records, but going from the 90s to the 70s, and morning lows next week could touch the 40s inland… that will be noticeable.

One event will occur on Thursday, the other will be the game changer on Saturday.  It will not be a continuous event, but there will be showers and heavier storms.  On the downside, it will impact your weekend. I am sorry to all of the brides that have been asking about their wedding plans

Weather Maps: See the rainfall outlooks broken down in two separate sliders, the second one showing the rain developing over (part of) the weekend. Then check out the cool down that will result Saturday and Sunday, which might just work out to set you in the mood to watch the first full day of the new NFL season on TV.

Thursday

Notes:

The rain chance will be greater earlier in the day, as the system will move out by the evening. This will lead to clearing and improved weather for Friday. But the next event is quick on its heels for the weekend.

Weekend Outlook

[metaslider id=28429]

Notes:

This development will take place during the afternoon as the the easterly winds increase and bring more moisture off of the ocean. This will not be a good weekend at the beach, sadly.  The rain threat over the Delmarva and beaches in the morning will spread westward or inland during the afternoon and evening.  The result will be increasing rain showers and some thunderstorms Saturday. I don’t see severe weather, but for outdoor weddings, this may make you want to keep plan B in mind.

Sunday- A cooler day and likely remaining dry. However with the wind off the Great Lakes and unsettled upper air pattern, clouds will take over, especially in the hills and mountains west and north of Baltimore. There could be isolated showers. Central Maryland will be partly cloudy and breezy.

Please remember that showers can be scattered and not hit all areas evenly. More detailed resolution for a better chance of location and timing will be more accurately shown the night before or morning of…
