Screen Shot2015-08-30 15_07_27Summer feels like it has made a return this weekend with more heat and humidity. Forgive me for the Lou Bega Mambo Number 5 reference I’m about to share, but the weather throw back put this throw back song in my head.   ‘Tropical Storm’ Number 5  is hanging on even though Erika dissipated. Flooding for Florida still expected this week, and the rain on the way tomorrow is partly due to “a little bit of Erika by our (south) side. Today, “a little bit of Rita’s is all” my kids need in the heat.  You too?

There, I got that off my chest.  Now, let’s cut to the chase. A weak boundary will trigger some showers and a few thunderstorms today, but that is mainly north of Baltimore. A northern Maryland and Pennsylvania thing.  A steadier band of rain will move in from the south and will have more of an impact south of Baltimore Monday morning. That does have some of that tropical influence stretching all the way down to Florida.

Since I do not think the short term modeling is dong a good job today, we will have to watch radar closely and play it by ear as showers develop.  So here is a quick focus on the start of the work week and the Monday morning rain.

Beyond this rain, the heat will only grow warmer. We have at least three days likely to break into the 90s. Not the thing many kids and teachers want to hear, with the balance of Maryland schools starting this week.
