Screen Shot2015-08-23 08_51_39As expected, Danny has run into opposing winds and lost a lot of steam. The  morning The National Hurricane Center reports that winds are down to 50 mph, and the small size makes this much less impressive to talk about. However, Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for many islands and it still is on a path to track across the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and then skim the northern Caribbean.  The wind force extends only 60 miles from the center.

Warnings:

SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT:

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for...
* Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Anguilla

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for...
* Saba and St. Eustatius
* St. Maarten
* Guadeloupe, St. Barthelemy, and St. Martin

The short term projection for Danny will bring between 2 to 4 inches of rain across the path. The longer range outlook does bring the potential for some intensification again while the projection is less certain. The path into the Florida Straights or across the Bahamas will depend on the weather pattern across the US. There will be a large tough across the Eastern US, so it is likely there is no impact on our region. The storm will either slide under the trough and continue towards the Gulf, but more likely to makes a cube across the Bahamas, then eventually curving out into the open Atlantic by the end of next week.
