TimShahanThe Perseid Meteor Shower may be tonight, but I saw a star during the afternoon. Day 4 of this Trek Across Maryland for Cool Kids Campaign was a break for our feet as we dedicated a full bike ride in memory of my friend Shawn Madden. I would be remiss if I left out the help I got in Frederick. More on that below. What I had to start with was the finish. Leaving Patapsco St Park was trouble last year as it was dark. This time was enjoyable for my team, and we were treated by this friendly face…
If you have enjoyed the Lightning photos and videos from Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on my social media pages, then you will recognize this name: Tim Shahan! He is the nicest guy and one of my heroes. So talented and humble. We became friends online and sometimes he just shares personally, not expected any publicity. He deserves it.
I dropped my bike and gave this guy a big bear hug. Love him and love that he was so thoughtful, like many others to track us live online and come out to visit.

This has become requested by a few people, so check out what my Suunto Ambit 3 R watch and Movescount App created along with some photos along the way.

Back to the start…
Yesterday my rear gear cable broke after we got down the mountain into Frederick. Could have been my brake, or earlier… So I was lucky this was a mere 3 miles from our finish. We rushed to find help and The Bicycle Escape stayed open a few minutes late and opened earlier to fix it in time for us so our schedule would not get derailed. They rock… Listen as they search for the problem and then this morning when I picked it up. You can see that in this post on Facebook. I will add it online when I recap the entire trek after we finish

LorettaBowensThen only 2 miles into the day, Loretta Bowens stopped us (127 total miles)  to make a donation to Cool Kids Campaign. Her daughter Bianca was diagnosed with bone cancer at 12 and died at 14.  The same thing I was originally diagnosed with. Bless her heart!

Thursday is Day 5 and has a lot of surprises as we cross Anne Arundel County via Ritchie Highway into Annapolis. This will be memorable through our State Capital and then how we cross the Chesapeake Bay.  I hope you track us as well as continue to support. We are raising money for Cool Kids Campaign and every little bit adds up.
