There was a minor earthquake in Maryland on Saturday night around 10PM. It was centered in Crownsville, and people felt it. But it only registered a 2.2M, so not even plotting on many quake maps. Definitely minor compared to the 5.8 we had in August 23, 2011 centered in Virginia.  Let’s hope that’s the only surprise this week. Forgive me for the focus on my Trek Across Maryland, but that is my focus today through next weekend. I will make one daily weather post for our general region, with a highlight of our daily trek route. That tracking page is now live with daily routes that will engage live when we are on the go.  Also stories and of course a link to donate.  As for the weather, here is the quick rundown and radar simulations can be found below:

Today: A race against the clock to avoid the showers leaving Garrett and entering Allegany County (Wisp to Cumberland). If this NAM Model is correct, showers will begin between 2 and 4 pm.  Our hike is 27 miles long (guess my steps and win a Garmin VivoFit2). If we begin on time around 8 AM, we should finish this portion by 3 PM, then transition to our bikes for the last 14+miles into Cumberland. That means we end around 5PM. It could get wet, so I hope this is wrong.

Monday: Rain will expand east. Perhaps a wet day in central Maryland, just to our east.  The bulk of this next system will be in central Maryland and dump overnight into Monday morning, then we look good for the week ahead. Timing is everything. Check out the simulations below.
