Rainy Morning Then Bad Day At The Beach: July 15

This is the culprit! Last night’s expected storms didn’t look like much in the evening and the National Weather Service dropped the ‘Watch’. But the circulation I discussed in my last post did prove true and exploded as passed through after midnight. It was about an hour or two later and woke many up with loud thunder. The rain- again- one to two inches. The ground is soggy and we have more.

That upper level circulation did slow down and will linger off the coast today and behave a little like a winter storm. The outlook is displayed in the simulated radar below showing the rain wrapping around like a winter Low Pressure off of the coast. This will bring rain from the northeast down southward across the Chesapeake Bay then linger on the coast followed by strong winds and a cool down. Here are the highlights:

• Morning rain for central Maryland
• Rain arrives at the beaches shortly after noon.
• Rain/storms last the rest of the day on Delmarva
• Strong winds pick up 15 to 30 mph, gusts to 40 on the Bay
• Small Craft Advisory on the Bay
• Might be wind restrictions on bridges
• Tonight’s temperatures will drop into the 50s north and west of Baltimore
