We could use a break in the weather after severe storms rolled through Tuesday including baseball size hail in Baltimore County. Truth is, we won’t get much relief. Two more systems are on the way that will bring more rain, possibly more severe storms, and finish this month as the wettest on record. Baltimore’s BWI has 9.57″ through June 24th standing at number 2 on the list. The wettest June on record was in 1972 with 9.95″, thanks in big part to Hurricane Agnes. So this year we can thank Tropical Storm Bill. But remember the first two Mondays of the month had big storms and local flooding as well. If this GFS model forecast works out, we could be in for an additional 2 to 4 inches by the end of the weekend. It’s too early to call if we get more severe storms and large hail, but even just a modest shower would put us over the top. See the breakdown below.
GFS Model: Two Storm Simulation
Two storms pass over Maryland. Thursday evening a Low from the west, Saturday evening even heavier rain arriving from the south. Sunday looks like to the better day of the weekend. This might have you comparing it to Father’s Day weekend and perhaps reference to part of my atmospheric memory theory. But the temperature outlook below shows this weekend will be much cooler.
